Wednesday. Troy, April 22nd —
Dear daughter,
We waited for the
boats to start; for though I
intended to send her by the cars, I
found it would not do. She will
start tomorrow, if possible, Fri-
day at [?].
To send her by cars you may
think expedient — I have conclu-
ded, for reasons I have no time
to give, that it is not best.
I shall send books for you.
I just read your letter, [? ?]
I was less attentive to Cate,
on account of a dreadful
occurance. Saturday night I
was taken with bleeding at my
lungs. Drs Blatchford, Wright,
and others were sent for. It was
not believed I could live till
morning. I am much better,
and hope to recover.
Your affectionate
father,
A. Eaton.
