The Church of Zvartnots (Zvartnotz, Zuartnoc), or the Cathedral of the Angels, is located in Vagharshapat, the Republic of Armenia (coord.40-08 / 44-21). It was erected about 650-659 AD by the Katholikos Nerses III 'The Builder' (641-661 AD) according to a Greek inscription and the Armenian historical accounts of Sebeos and the Katholikos Yovhannes Drasxanakertci. Zuartnoc was constructed at the traditional site of the meeting between King Trdat and S.Gregory the Illuminator as described by the Armenian historian Agathangelos in his account of the conversion of Armenia to Christianity during the 4th century.
