This book was researched and written in preparation for the Institute's 150th anniversary. In addition to its historical narrative it provides an analytical perspective on the school's stages of development as well as its role in an increasingly technological world.

Dr. Samuel Rezneck taught history and political science at Rensselaer from 1925 until his retirement in 1962, when he was named professor emeritus. In addition to his scholarly work on American political, social, and economic history, Rezneck published numerous articles about Rensselaer and the individuals who contributed to its success.
