On Exhibit at the Folsom Library Lobby, April - August, 2008Russell Sage Laboratory 100 Years: A Glance Back at the Beginning At the centennial of the Russell Sage Laboratory, we take a glance back to its origin. The building was made possible through a generous gift from Margaret Olivia Sage in memory of her husband Russell Sage. The building was constructed to meet the needs of electrical and mechanical engineering departments, both officially launched in 1907. Construction on Sage Lab began in 1908 and the opening was celebrated during commencement in 1909. Photographs, publications and drawings illustrate the original purposes of the building inside and out. The exhibit also spotlights the first professors and graduates of electrical and mechanical engineering. |
