Stephen Van Rensselaer establishes the Rensselaer School and asks Rev. Samuel Blatchford to serve as president. A Board of Trustees meets Dec. 29th.

The Rensselaer School opens at the Old Bank Place, Troy, NY on Jan. 5th.
Amos Eaton assumes role of Senior Professor and oversees day to day operation.
