The Phalanx Dance took place at the end of Freshman Week. Phalanx members acted as a blind date service and introduced freshmen to girls from local girls' colleges. Blind dates were matched by height and age. The dance served as an introduction to social life at RPI. When other Frosh Week events were discontinued in 1959, the Phalanx Dance survived.
