End-user computer requirements
To use My RensSearch you need an RCS account and a Web browser. An RCS account is used to uniquely identify you as a member of the Rensselaer community. Information on obtaining an RCS account can be found here. The Web browser is the tool used to interface with the system and has to support two basic functions:
- Forms - Your browser must support HTML forms where forms provide the ability to complete electronic data-entry fields. All but the oldest of Web browsers support HTML forms.
- SSL - SSL is an acronym for Secure Socket Layer, and when you are asked to log into My RensSearch your browser will need to support SSL so your Unity username and password cannot be read by outsiders.
- It is also recommended that you use a browser with CSS and javascript enabled.
Current versions of Netscape, Internet Explorer, or Opera should function properly with My RensSearch
